The Local Youth Conference on Social Cohesion, organized by Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK) under the DSK–KNH–BMZ Project, was held at the TiKA Conference Hall, Camp-16. The event brought together almost 120 participants – including Rohingya and host youths, community leaders, imams, NGO actors, journalists, and government representatives—to promote peace, tolerance, and social harmony.
Ajgar Ali, Deputy Secretary & Executive Magistrate and Camp In-Charge (CIC), Camp-15, attended as Chief Guest, while Rintu Bikash Chakma (CIC–Camp 16), Md. Faruq-Al-Masud (CIC–Camp 14), and Md. Aftabuzzaman Al Imran, Senior Assistant Secretary from the RRRC Office, joined as Special Guests.
The conference began with a peace rally and inspiring inaugural remarks from Md. Mortuz Ali, Senior Project Manager (SPM), and DSK representatives. A key highlight was the Youth Panel Discussion – “Youth Voices for Peace and Social Cohesion”, moderated by Md. Shafiqul Islam, Technical Manager (Social Inclusion & Youth), DSK. Youths from Camps 14, 15, and 16, along with host communities, shared thoughtful perspectives on unity, trust, and coexistence.
The event also featured a Cohesion Game, a “Pledge for Peace & Cohesion” session, and an exhibition of youth-led innovations. Selected Youth Change Agents received recognition for their contributions to peacebuilding.
The DSK senior team, including Technical Managers and project staff, were present throughout the event, supporting and encouraging the youths’ active participation.
In his remarks, Chief Guest Ajgar Ali commended the initiative, saying, “Peace begins when young people take responsibility to bridge divides and work together.”
The conference ended with a strong message – peace, unity, and understanding are the foundation for a harmonious future between the Rohingya and host communities.
