Workshop on Social Stability between Rohingya Refugees and Neighbouring Communities Held in Cox’s Bazar
Cox’s Bazar, October 16, 2025:
A stakeholder consultation workshop under the project “Social Stability between Rohingya Refugees and Neighbouring Communities in Ukhiya (Palongkhali Union Parishad) and Ramu (Khuniapalong and Dakshin Mitaichari Union Parishad)” was successfully held on October 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Conference Hall (6th Floor), Hotel Uni Resort, Kolatoli, Cox’s Bazar.
The primary objective of the workshop was to share the Mid-Term Evaluation Findings, including key insights, recommendations, lessons learned, and future advocacy strategies. The evaluation was conducted by the Development Research Initiative (dRi), Bangladesh, providing evidence-based insights to strengthen social stability between the Rohingya refugees and neighbouring host communities.
Md. Shamsud Douza, Joint Secretary and Additional Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC), Cox’s Bazar, graced the event as the Chief Guest.
Feroza Akther, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate, NGO Cell, Cox’s Bazar, and Moyazzem Hossain, Deputy Director, Department of Youth Development, Cox’s Bazar, attended as Guests of Honour.
The workshop was jointly organized by Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK) and the Development Research Initiative (dRi).
Prodip Kumar Roy, Joint Director (Projects), DSK; Anindya Barai, Head of Research and Operations, dRi; and Dr. Sazzadul Alam, Team Leader of the Evaluation and Associate Professor, Department of Anthropology, Jahangirnagar University, led and facilitated the sessions.
The presentation was delivered by Md. Mortuz Ali, Senior Manager, DSK. A strategic discussion on child protection issues was also presented during the workshop.
Participants included government officials, local leaders, representatives from community-based organizations, youth groups, NGOs/INGOs, and development partners. They actively exchanged views and shared experiences on strengthening collaboration, promoting peace, and enhancing social cohesion to ensure sustainable harmony and resilience in the targeted areas.
